Time Flies

Wow! How time flies.

Since i last posted we have been through five holidays, if you count Valentines day, like i do.

It was a very busy time, as i know it was for everyone.

My shop did okay.  I was very happy to be a part of other peoples Christmas, and I hope they enjoyed there gifts.

We had a lot of snow this year,  and we are all ready for spring and summer.

One of my favorite Christmas gifts. How do you like my Hoodie Footie. Ted picked it out himself.

This was the 2 new Grandbabys first Christmas. I think they had a good one.

I have started watching a few Podcast on knitting and I am learning a lot. I discovered after knitting for 40 + years that I knit right handed but I am left handed. I also always knit in the back loop, and throw my yarn. After watching Molly from the HomspunHouse podcast, knit,  http://www.homespun.de, I know there had to be a faster and more efficient way for me to knit.
So, I went to the trusty ole youtube and found a few video tutorial on left hand knitting and learned how to knit left handed and continental. I find it far more efficient and enjoyable. I still throw a little on the purl stitch.
I also learned the Fish lips kiss heel for socks, from Sox Therapist on ravelry,  after watching a Knitting in circles podcast.
I also learned to magic loop for knitting socks, hats and other things knit in circles.

Fish lips kiss heel of sock knit with leading men fiber arts yarn http://leadingmenfiberarts.bigcartel.com  They have some beautiful yarn.

And I also knit some of these socks. Sock knitter know, or if not better go get you some Paton Kroy yarn and knit some.  AWESOME

I am also in the beginning stages of planning my own podcast. I want to do it.
See you later.

Please comment and share.

September 13, 2013 Friday the 13 th

I sold my first item on Etsy on Wednesday.

I am so happy and I can't wait to hear from the person who bought it.

Who is ready for fall?
Cooler weather, falling leafs, and time to get out the knitting needles and crochet hooks to make scarfs, hats, blankets and shawls to keep our friend and love ones warm.
I found this new material to make ruffle scarfs. It is very unique and fun.

I don't know about you but I have so many projects and so little time.

I plan to find little bits of time to do what I enjoy and what helps  me to relax.

It's August Already

Summer is almost gone and I don't think i enjoyed it much.
My summer usually starts with a trip to Richmond Missouri for the annual Mushroom Festival.
The first weekend in May. We usually get our first sun burn of the year then.

This year we drove into town to snow, and that seems to have set the pace for the whole of summer.

Our garden was late getting planted because of inclement weather.

However we are now enjoying the peppers, tomatoes and green beans. Hopefully the first frost won't come too soon.

The pool was also late getting open, also because of the weather. We have had a few good days of swimming and enjoying  the outdoors, and we have a few more activities to look forward too.

I am however gearing up for the cooler weather by adding this to my etsy shop yesterday.

And it is never too early to start thinking about christmas gifts.

Life in Balance

We all know how important it is to have a balanced life.
Yet it is so hard to fine time for the things we want to do, because our real life is so busy.
I have a full time job, then I come home and try to keep my house together, cook a meal, clean up.
Now I am too tired to do the thing I want to do like swimming, crafting, or just watching a little tv without feeing like I should be doing something more productive.

As an Occupational therapy assistant I know the importance of a balanced live, and how we should have all the components balanced. Work, rest, and play. But how many of us just have work and rest with very little time for play. And we wonder why we are cranky and tired all the time. Live is not fun most of the time, especially if you have to have a spotless house,
and home cooked meals every day.

I am learning to let the little things go a little, and not do major cleaning every week, and I don't cook every night any more. I want time for swimming, crafting, going to a movie.
I am learning to schedule my time in the evening to get some crafting done a few days a week.
I am still a work in progress, and I am still cranky sometimes.

Anyway, just had that on my mind and wanted to share.

Here are some of the fun craft things I did this week.

And by the way, i wrote this blog sitting outside after an evening swim.  I didn't cook and my house is a little dusty.

Thanks for stopping by.

THE SHOP IS OPENED

1finedesign.etsy.com

I had a productive day on friday.
My shop is opened and i have had a few people come in and take a look.
It is kind of small right now, but I am still deciding which way I will be going with my product line. I think I like the miscellaneous thing right now.

I have not had any comments on the shop or this blog so I don't know if there is anyone out there. I could really use some feed back, instruction, encouragement, or criticism. Or just come by to say hello and welcome.
Thank you for stoping by, and have a great day. I must go back to real live know.

My Etsy store

Hello Again, and here we go........

So much i want to do but so little time.....
I guess all crafters say that.

I have so many projects I want to do and try.
I am also working on an Etsy shop, which will have a variaty of my handmade items. I am excited and a little overwhelmed by all the things I need to learn and do to have a successful shop.

Today I ordered business cards from vistaprint.com, I am working on this blog, and later I will be taking pics and listing a few products on 1finedesign@etsy.com

The baby is not for sell, however the bibs will be on my etsy site.
I have decided to package my sells green, by reusing, repurposing magazine pages, and those pesky plastic grocery bags.

I think they turned out well.
Got a lot to do, so I must sign off for now. Have a great day and thanks for giving me some of your time.

Hello, My name is...............

Hi. I'm doris and I don't Know what I'm doing here. I just thought it would be fun to be a blogger.
I have many interests.
I like to knit and crochet in the fall and winter.
I love beads and enjoy making jewelry as well.
I just started to get interested in reusing items to make jewelry with. Today I opened a wheelchair box and collected the stapels because they were copper looking and I thought I could make something pretty from them. I will let you know how that turns out.

This is my first blog, and i am not sure were i will be going with it, so hang on and enjoy the ride.

These are a few of my creations.

Thanks for stopping by.
